Saw Jools Holland on friday night. Arcade Fire really impressed me out of all the acts there.
Finally bought the album today.
It's fecking tops, go check it out asap.

I watched this too, i always try to catch jools holland.
Arcade Fire were good, but not great, i thought the singer was terrable, even for an indie/rock voice, it was way off, i think they are very overhyped, but i shouldnt really pass judgement until ive heard the album.
(btw, What was with the singer playing his guitar backwards? did you see that, only thing i can think of was to keep the rythem?)
after sitting through the black eyed peas (.......) Foos were on, In your honor is going to be an awesome album, Best of you is classic and i cant wait to hear the acoustic cd.
I'd never heard the hype about Arcade Fire. All I knew is my sister had heard of them some 6 months back and raved about them (she never played me anything) and she said for me to pay special attention to them when the time came.
I was mainly interested in hearing Foos new stuff which was cool. I am looking forward to their album.
On hearing Arcade Fire though, they really did strike me as being cool. The great thing about Jools Holland is that you can often hear stuff before they explode and if I'm honest I heard nothing said about them or any hype, which may explain why I was taken aback as I was not expecting anything from them.
The album has some good tracks, although I think the tracks on Jools Holland are still edging out for being my favourites. For some reason I didn't have them down as being your cup of tea mate, not sure why I thought that though.
Definitely worth going down to HMV or somewhere and listening to a few of the tracks from the album and see if you like any more. I'd say all in all, it's not as rock as you may expect.
Now I'm off to try and locate a copy of the new Weezer album and seeing how good that is.
I will get the Arcade fire album anyway, just to see what the other tracks are like, i hope the singers voice is produced well on the cd and not whiny like he was live., its hard for me to like a band when i know there not much cop live, though the band were good the singer was not.
theyve been around for a while now, the NME (terrable mag) has been going on about them and i think there album got a 9 in there and radio one have recently just started playing there song (forget the name of it)
I wasnt going to bother with the new weezer effort, it sounds to poppy to me, but i will probably end up getting it
i havent actually bought much for a while,(american hi fi's long awaited new album which i imported it tripe, kinda like pop music, shame) i still need to get My Chemical romances 2nd album, and afew more imports i need, then a huge spending spree on afew new albums, strangly, i cant wait for coldplays new one even though im not a fan.
The album does sound tighter than he was live although I thought they were quite good.
Surprised to hear that the NME has gone on about them for a while and that Radio 1 has started playing their songs. I've long hated the NME and no doubt they'll be slating Arcade Fire in a few months time. Still I must say they are really good. The album gets better the more I hear it.
The new Weezer song I've still not heard. Although I'm not too worried about it as I know they'll produce good stuff regardless of what their single out now sounds like.
Apart from the Foos new album not sure what else there is to be looking out for. Although if I remember right, Roots Manuva has a new album out and his stuff is always top as well.
I suspect the arcade fires cd will sound ace, i thought they were good live but just wasnt to keen on the singer.
New weezer album should be good, but ive not seen an above average review yet and usually they are raved about, the album is supposed to be alitle more commercial than previous "bevelly hills" is an ok song but sadly, 5 times a day on the radio has worn its appeal out.
Future cd recomendations from me include
The Ataris - Untitled
Alkaline trio - Crimson
Audioslave - out of exile
A - teen dance ordanance
and maybe, just maybe a new GNRs album before the year is out, though its not quite the same with the hired hands filling in for slash, duff etc
I'm blessed in the fact that I don't listen to the radio much, if at all so no songs get played to death unless I make it so.
When is the new Audioslave album out? I bought the first one on day of release after hearing Cochise on MTV2 (they had it on every hour so I tuned in as often as I could). Loved the album so news of a second one soon is definitely something to look forward to.
I think Audioslaves new one is out on Monday, should be a corker, Not many people like it, but Chris Cornells solo album from afew years ago is really ace too, different but good. My mate has one ticket to see them at brixton, payed £60 for it and could only get one so i wont be there :(
Im gonna go on a CD binge tomorrow, need some new vinyl too but Wreckless records is abit shite now so i just buy mine from Amazon online, cheaper and easier, or i got to the indoor market in town and pick up older albums for afew pounds each and OMG im rambling on lol
Im still currently trying to get all my music ripped to my walkman too, its a 20 gig harddrive but it takes a while to get them all accross, wish there was an easier way...
Weezers album is quite good Nat, very bright and cheery, great for the walkman.
Finally picked up my chemical romances album too and its not as good as i though though there are some killer tracks on there
finally i picked up the eels new one , blinking lights, its very very good, 2 disks and 33 tracks, i just listened all the way through in order so its hard to pick out fav tracks, but there are afew as good as "mr e's beautiful blues" on there, well impressed.
Audioslave and alkaline trio out tomorrow :)
I've still not got around to listening to Weezer, that shall be done tomorrow now but I'm looking forward to it.
I think I'll try out the Eels one also. I've quite liked the songs I have heard by them but I've not really made an effort to get hold of more of their stuff. Might be a good way to start off before going and checking the rest of their discography.
Have you got the new Audioslave yet?
Yeah, i got it on Monday after work, its good, alot more mellow than thew first, i havent really dug into it yet, but ive put it on my walkman so it will get a thorough listen when im out tomorrow, got the system of a down album too even though im not a fan, some songs are good but others i dont like at all, ive never really got how this band caught on so big?
I just really cant wait for the Foos new one but its still over a month away :(
